- Turn on the room’s lights. Choose two spots: one near the doorway and one in the middle, about a metre from the walls where you can.
- Hold the phone upright at chest height. At each spot, turn one slow, level circle: about 36 seconds, or 9 seconds for each quarter-turn.
- Turn a little, wait for a view to save, then turn again. Keep the same corner, door frame or piece of furniture in view.
- At the middle spot, tilt about 30 degrees up and make one slow circle. Then tilt about 30 degrees down and make another.
- Between spots, walk in small steps of 15 to 20 centimetres, keeping a familiar edge in view.
If it doesn’t work
If the app warns you are turning too fast, slow down: views are skipped while you turn quickly.
Include an edge: a blank wall gives the app nothing to match. Point at a corner, door frame or furniture.
Add light: the view is too dark for detail. Turn on a light or open the door.
Small rooms like bathrooms and halls: sweep slowly from the doorway or a corner. Full circles are optional where there is no room to turn.
